Bayfront Park - Lacey Township

Bayfront Park

Over the years, Bayfront Park in Lacey Township has been subject to erosion, and it was decimated by Hurricane Sandy. CME worked with the Township to obtain a grant from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority for the reconstruction of the park and the installation of shoreline stabilization measures. CME obtained a CAFRA permit from the NJDEP for the project and worked with the NJDEP and Save Barnegat Bay for guidance on landscaping and maintaining nesting habitats and patterns for diamondback terrapins in the area.

The project includes playgrounds for children ages 2-5 and 5-12, a picnic area, gazebo shade structure, stamped concrete overlook platform, solar parking area lights, bike rack, walking path, and landscaping improvements with native plant species. Gabion baskets were installed along the shore line in order to aid in erosion prevention and as protection for the site to dissipate wave energy in flooding events.
